Divine Mother Prayer

Mother of the World by Nicholas Roerich

If you knew how much I love you,
you'd cry for joy!

Medugeoji / Divine Mother

O Divine Mother
May all my speech and idle talk be mantra.
All actions of my hands be mudra.
All eating and drinking be the offerings of oblations unto Thee.
All lying down prostrations before Thee.
May all pleasures be as offering my entire self unto Thee.
May everything I do be taken as Thy worship.
O Divine Mother

Anjali Mudra

Each morning when I awaken  before my feet ever touch the floor.... I sit on the edge of the bed with eyes closed, spine straight, and take a moment to come into my heart center, and just b r e a t h e. Then, clasping my hands in Anjali mudra, I speak the Divine Mother prayer aloud. (at first I had to read it with open eyes, but it wasn't long before I had it memorized - you will, too!).

Honoring Divine Mother is my favorite part of my morning sadhana. The words of this prayer* resonate with me on such deep levels; aligning my heart and soul consciousness in a healing and empowering way. And, I feel that I am honored by their utterance.  This sacred daily practice gives meaning to everything I do throughout the day and evening. It helps me to be aware of the Divine within myself before any other thought enters.

Mudra मुद्रा in Sanskrit, means: seal/gesture/mark/pose.
A symbolic or ritual pose or gesture with hands and fingers (or the body) which may be practiced during yoga, meditation and dance. There are approximately 399 mudras, each with a different purpose and benefit. Mudras act to stimulate different parts of the body involved with breathing, and direct the flow of energy in the physical and subtle bodies enhancing well-being and mood while re-connecting the inner self and facilitating the journey within.

Anjali (Devanagari: अञ्जली; अंजली) is a Sanskrit word that means "divine offering".  Wikipedia

The Anjali mudra is a centering pose that brings serenity to mind and body, which aids with focus while entering into a meditative state. It is used as a silent greeting of respect, and honor, and is a sign of sacred offering and reverence to the heart in namaste:
The divine within me honors the divine within you.

For a concise description of how to practice Anjali mudra and learn of its many benefits, I lovingly recommend reading:

Sadhana (Sādhanāसाधन ) in Sanskrit means realization; therefore, anything we practice with awareness, intention and consistency for our spiritual growth is sadhana. (Watch for upcoming post about my personal daily sadhana practice).

This is a condensed version of the Divine Mother Prayer; it was originally written and performed as a sacred dance by Swami Radha. (More on this prayer dance in an upcoming post).

blessings to us all...
